

You can see a small cup and spoon in front of the Pandit. Next important person is the Pandit, who performs all the rituals and blesses the couple and their families. You can see two such lamps placed next to pillars of the stage. In a Hindu ceremony, the celebration is not complete without lighting a kuthu vilakku (lamp).

Another tray with Kadalai Gopuram (a cone shaped sweet made from jaggery, peanut / ground nut and coconut). Each tray will have a sweet or snack like murukku, nippat/thattai in 5 numbers. The bride is considered to be Goddess Mahalaksmi, so they welcome her with gold ornaments and silk sarees.Īpart from the above eight trays, there will be some more trays having 5 varieties of sweets and snacks (Vratha bakshanam). The eighth tray has a jewellery set consisting of a gold chain, bangles and earrings which is gifted to the bride by the groom’s family.The seventh tray has jaggery squares and moulded sugar candies.The next tray has roses and other flowers.Next to kumkum tray, we have betel leaves, betel nuts and bananas.


HOMA KUNDAM Next comes the Agni or Homa Kundam (pit where fire is lit), which is placed in front of the bride and groom.
